Our Journey

A Vision Born in the Streets

Extra Mile Ministries was birthed out of a profound, personal calling given to our founder, Evangelist Godknows Muto. Originally serving school children, he was soon guided to a weightier, deeply challenging mandate: preaching to homeless children on the streets. Realizing words alone could not convey spiritual love, Godknows began demonstrating hands-on love through food, clothing, and blankets.

In 2003, he faced severe personal trials while stranded in Chirundu without basic amenities. Stranded on the banks of the Zambezi River with no passport to cross and no funds to return home, Godknows stayed with an old classmate and turned to Scripture. While reading 1 John 3:16, God spoke clearly to his heart: "Go another mile. You can preach and you can give food, but what they truly need is love."

This vision crystallized a mandate to serve underprivileged children holistically—spiritually, physically, and emotionally. God directed him to serve at the Neshuro Baptist Orphanage under Pastor Chigohi until 2005. After a short period in Bible school that was cut short due to a lack of funds, he relocated to Bulawayo in 2006. There, the vision took massive, practical root: Godknows rescued 16 boys directly off the streets and merged them with 8 orphaned boys, setting the cornerstone for the ministry.

Founder Testimony

"I remember a young boy named Gift. He was 10 years old, sniffing glue, and shivering. I shared my bread with him and spoke about Jesus. He looked at me and asked, 'Does Jesus have a house for me to sleep in?' That question shattered me. I understood that going the extra mile means building a bridge from the pavement to the classroom, and from the street corner to the altar of God."
